Week Three

Week three has had me looking at flickr, which is fun. I have found an illustrator on flickr who illustrates scenes of a tv show called Mad Men, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately i cannot get the pictures to appear on this blog, i tried both Flickr's blogging tool and Bloggers upload photo tool and no luck. But here is a link to a picture i liked:

I also played around with the mashup software and made this, using an image from the acl flickr which i think is pretty cool:

Unfortunately I could not get Picnik to work at all for me, there was a problem with the flash player settings. I did however manage to look at image generators and carrying on from a little earlier I found this Mad Men image generator. You can create your own characters, it's pretty cool:
Where I created this picture:
It has been a pretty fun experience and im sure that I will use these applications again and maybe I'll even be able to get Picnik working at some point.

Week Two

Week two of Web 2.0 has had me looking at various social networking sites, though i am quite familiar with them, it was still fun to play around. I tend to use facebook the most for social interaction and myspace for music.

I found a group page on facebook called Auckland City Libraries, for LIFE! There are a lot of Staff members that belong to this group. I really liked this picture from that group:

I also found a band on myspace that i like:

I think ACL could probably utilise facebook quite well by settiing up a Auckland City Libraries page, which customers could become 'fans' of and they would then automatically get any updates from the library on their home page

Week One

Week one of Web 2.0 has seen me open a new email address, which wasn't all that new as i have done this many times. I also have started this blog for the programme, which is new to me, but it all seems to be going pretty well, no surprises. I don't think keeping a blog would be particularly helpful in my job but can see how it could be useful to keep library customers up to date.
